How Do I Recover My Blockchain Second Password
Okay all things considered I’m a newbie to the bitcoin crypto-currency world but even my mentor was a newbie at one point. A world that hindsight being 20/20 would have made my whole financial situation completely different, I would be a millionaire. But I’m in now and it’s better late than never.
One of the first things you want to do upon deciding to enter this crypto-currency world is create at least one account with a currency exchange and a digital wallet then you want to learn as much as you can so you don’t waste your money learning the hard way.
Today I’m just going to be talking about my digital wallet and that is Blockchain. Which I really like and when I created my account I included all the security features one of which is a sending or second password.
This password is used only when you send or take bitcoins out of your wallet.
I created my account Oct 10th but being new to the digital currency world I wanted to learn as much information as possible because being on a fixed income every single penny counts and I didn’t want to just throw money away, so.
When I was able to secure some funds I purchase some BTC’s and transferred them into my blockchain wallet simply because it’s safer there than leaving them on the exchange.
Okay, now I have digital currency in my wallet which was really simple but it was something I had to learn to do. I now have money or crypto-currency in my blockchain account and I was waiting until I had enough to be able to send some to Bitconnect for long-term investing.
But after I figured out how much I want to send I was excited to add another passive income stream to my funnel, but that all vanished when I hit that send button.
After confirming how much I wanted to send I thought I was all good right there, that is until I got this popup asking me to enter a “Second Password” and honestly I was like “WTF”.
Now the second password for sending funds only this password is different from your login password and it’s not backed up or saved anywhere, unless you wrote it down & saved it somewhere. Again I was like “WTF%&@$%” because after trying every single password that I normally used I still can’t remember the password. If is say I was pissed that would have been an understatement.
So I’m steering at the screen for like two hours trying everything I could find out how to recover my second password. I found one site that had a fix but I had to download and run some python scripts which was a good thing I had a background in information technology so I had a clue. Needless to say after a while running all these scripts it didn’t work.
I started searching everywhere because I didn’t want to lose this money I was really on the verge of crying. Until I found a fix and compare to running python scripts in from a dos command window it was simple.
As you can see it really easy for me to recover my BTC’s the most important thing is the 12 word passphrase. Just get to the login window at Blockchain then in the lower right corner you will see “Having Some Trouble View Options” link, click it.
Then you want to select the second option that says “I’ve lost my wallet password” click on the “Recover Funds” button.
Now that you’ve reached the login help page everything is now in your hands if you copied your’s 12 word passphrase. The only thing left to do is enter them into the window and create a new account.
Once you click “Continue” it will take you to the next page where you’ll create new account with your new login id and all your funds readily available. Now just complete the setup process that you did when you first setup your account with one exception.
“Don’t set the Second Password”, that is unless you will be able to remember it and if you think there might be a chance that you might forget it leave it “Disabled” because the only time the second password is used is when your taking funds (BTC) out of your blockchain account.
To say I was overjoyed would be an understatement, again!
